Published April 25, 2016 Elisa stretching far out on her practice to become a lead climber. This technique is called "mock leading" and allows beginner leaders to experience how it feels to lead and lead-belay while being safe on a top rope. It is a great way to learn how to properly clip the rope and experience situations that cannot be learned via a book. Whereas Rich simply stood up at this same spot and easily clipped the quickdraw into the bolt, Elisa had to commit to one extra (more delicate) move to clip the same bolt. These situations remind all of us that each climb is different and that critical thinking is often required to stay safe. Thanks for coming out on this awesome 2 series lead climbing workhop. It's amazing how much we learned. Share!Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)
