Published October 9, 2019 Looking back to a great trip last month in the Eastern Sierras. A group of ninth graders had the amazing opportunity to climb in this beautiful place. We explored three days on 3 different types of rock. From smooth and crack lined alpine granite (not pictured) to well featured volcanic rock over to sticky rough grained and quartz filled Monzogranite. The kids loved it. One for the books ??? Published May 14, 2015 Lead climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. This one is called "girdle crossing (5.10d). It is located in the "wonderland of rocks" area on the iconic formation named "freakdome brothers" – 3 with each other connected domes that stick out the beautiful desert landscape. Girdle crossing partially uses bolts of a more famous route called "I can't believe it's a girdle (5.10a). This one is unique in its appearance as it traverses for 3 long pitches along a "Dike" from left to right. Foot intense smearing along the rim of the roof is much characteristic for climbing in Joshua Tree. Season is almost over but this coming weekend we will still have great temps in the lower 70's. Get your climb on and see you out there. Share!Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)
